During the Summer of 2024, Alan began working towards the goal of breaking a Minecraft speedrun world record in an alternative category known as Minecraft: Java Edition Category Extensions in the “All Portals” category. Minecraft can be completed by opening 1 of the 128 End Portals that generate in the world and killing the Ender Dragon, but the All Portals category requires that all 128 portals must be opened before finishing the speedrun.
During the Spring of 2024, Alan joined the Rockville Chrous and learned lessons in basic singing. Originally he could only sing for 10 minutes at a time before losing his voice, but after 5 months he was able to sing over 8 songs in with the final chorus group at the Scott Fitzgerald Center. Songs were based around the theme of Peace and Love and included Dona Nobis Pacem, Let There Be Peace on Earth, Siyahamba, Phantom of the Opera, and many others.
Alan livestreamed the Wildlander Skyrim Modpack on Twitch and uploaded his video series to YouTube. He played permadeath characters on Skyrim’s hardest settings, with notable favorites including Jon the Righteous, a heavy armor paladin knight, and Harrada Bitterbreath, a reverse-pickpocket assassin that used poisons to take out her enemies.
Alan was accepted into the Founder Institute for the Winter 2019-2020 cohort. To reduce the application fee, he collaborated with the Boston chapter to organize an EdTech pitch for other Founder Institute participants. The winner received a $1000 fellowship to attend the program for free, and Alan also received a fellowship for organizing the event.
Alan participated in the MIT PlayLabs Accelerator in 2017 with the startup idea EscapeLabs, the world’s first mixed reality game publishers and escape room company. The program ended with a demo day showcasing several game experiments that were eventually turned into a full game demo for Trapology Boston. Check the Media tab for the EscapeLabs demo day video.

He passed through 13 states traveling from Springer Mountain in Georgia and finishing on Mt Washington in New Hampshire. He traveled an average of 15 miles per day by foot, consuming an average of 2800 calories per day just to maintain his weight. He completed the hike in 2021, traveling a total of 2150 miles.
Alan participated in Boy Scouts from 2006 until 2012, eventually achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest possible rank in the organization.
